Bishops Next Wave Summit

  Summit Updates

Welcome

In 2001 we took the unprecedented step of inviting and engaging with 350 members of the Bishops Family (past and present pupils, staff and parents) in a two day conference. The outcome was a vision for 2010 and a set of strategies that have shaped and guided our progress since then in the areas of; learning, teaching, sport, culture, science, technology, pastoral life, spirituality, diversity, marketing and funding. Much of what we envisioned for our future is either in place or well underway to being achieved. In most cases, the strategies and policies put in place remain cogent and valid instruments to keep us on track. But there are some areas which have emerged which now require our attention.

The extraordinary pace at which our world is changing requires us to examine the context within which we now live and then further to explore future scenarios to determine how we meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities that lie beyond 2010. We need once again to harness the wisdom and energy of the whole community of the school to make clear the path that lies before us all.

In the light of this, we will be convening another two day summit in July 2008, on the 21st and 22nd, and invite you to join us in exploring this future and determining a strategy for the school.

In plenary, we will review the results of the 2010 vision and strategy, appreciating achievements and identifying what we value about the Bishops community to take forward with us.

In parallel mini-summits the specific topics for inquiry and conversation are:

Back in plenary, we will share our mini-summit findings and invite comment.

We expect to have several notable, thought provoking and inspiring keynote speakers. Each mini-summit will be supported by a facilitator and an expert in the field. Music, poetry, and reflective and social time will be part of the programme. But most importantly the intensely participative and appreciative nature of the summit offers an extraordinary opportunity to be part of creating and shaping the future of Bishops.

Please indicate your interest in attending by completing the form on the right and indicating your current category within the Bishops Family (e.g. pupil, parent, past parent, OD or staff)

Numbers will unfortunately have to be limited to 400 people, and we will have to ensure that we get a good cross section of representation from all the various communities of the school.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Next Wave Summit.
